2010 Wild Hogs Road Trip - LRG Ride June 22nd through June 26th
Napa Valley Loop - LRG Ride Sunday May 16, 2010
After warming our insides with coffee and pastries, it was off to our first stop; the quaint little town of Yountville. Beautiful and scenic little town with lots of shops and a great place for a snack and beverage,
We then continued north to V. Sattui Winery for a nice lunch and great conversation with both old friends and new. From an outside BBQ with a great menu selection to an amazing deli and cheese shop inside, many of us didn’t want to move after lunch…Nap Time!
We continued on to our northern most destination which turned out to be a modern yet medieval castle, Castello Di Amorosa as it is known was truly awe inspiring. What an awesome time we had. Take a few moments and share our journey with us through the pictures below.
Arlen Ness Bike Show April 18, 2010 San Mateo, Ca.
2 Day'r Yosemite and North; Saturday September 19 to Sunday September 20
Sierra Hope; Saturday June 06, 2009
We were greeted at Art Mitchell's Harley Davidson by Paul Craig who flagged us to the front of the formation to the VIP section, yeah that's right we're VIP's. The ride started right on time at 10:00 am and the "Party Got Started". The streets were lined with people that waved at us and made the riders fell like celebrities; this went on for many towns with a huge motorcycle police escort. Final destination was Jamestown where we were treated as VIP's again with our group being able to park in the gated and closed off Downtown Jamestown. Lunch was what you wanted to be with a choice of eating at a variety of the local restaurants.
The day ended with a great ride back through Angels Camp and some great roads that are truly awesome to experience on a motorcycle.
Wild Hogs Road Trip; May 17, 2009 to May 21, 2009
Day One: Left Rio Vista with a beautiful ride through the Napa and Alexander Valley up to the 101 North. A brief stop in Ukiah for lunch and then back on the road. After logging 400 miles we called it a night in Klamath, Ca. Weather ranged inland from 103 to the coast 40 plus. Talk about layering and delayering.
Day Two: Up the coast with a slight variation to plan. We stayed on the coast all the way passing over some of the most beautiful river inlets from the ocean with the Coastal woodlands as a back drop. From Florence we headed inland to Eugene due to storms approaching Washington and Northern Oregon.
Day Three: We woke to wet grounds and even wetter bikes. A storm had passed through that night leaving us anticpating our next moves. So we decided to head Southeast. We traveled through the Modoc National Forest in which we encountered a continous downpour that saturated us to the bone. In addtion we hit elevations of 7000 feet at the summit where we passed through clouds causing much concern for visibility. After negotiating the storm and getting down to a warmer, drier climate we continued onto a little town called "Likely" where we stopped for a late lunch at the local saloon (recommended by a local biker 100 miles away). Good food, good conversation and then on the road again where we called it a night in Susanville.
Day Four: Day started in Susanville where we headed south across the high desert of Northeast California ending in Carson City. Set up camp at the local Holiday Inn and then ventured back out and over the hill to Lake Tahoe where we placed some bets and ate some food. After filling our guts and emptying our pockets, we hopped back over the hill and then headed east to Virginia City. As of end of day today we have logged more than 1,300 miles.
Day Five: Day started out down 395 to 88 with much time spent with photo opportunities. We came upon numerous wildlife and some of the most scenic surroundings you could ever imagine. We reached elevations of 8,000 plus where we were surrounded by snow and dropped down into the foothills where the chill came off as well as the jackets. Total mileage for the complete trip logged in just under 1,500 miles. A great time had by all and new friendships were made and existing ones strengthened.
Delta River Run; Sunday April 19, 2009
Wow!! What a beautiful day for a great ride. We met up in Oakley and jumped on highway 160. We followed it along the winding levee road. We traveled alongside the smooth, calm river through the towns of Iselton, Walnut Grove and finally leaving the river route for a more inland tour at the town of Courtland. From there we had a straight shot through some beautiful countrysides and rolling meadows finally coming in the backside of Tower Bridge where we dropped into beautiful Old Town Sac. About an hour long refresher and then back on the machines to a nice lunch In Rio Vista at Fosters Bighorn. A very eccentric place if you had never been there before. Good food, great company and a wide assortment of animal friends. Afterwards we broke off and said goodbye to a good day and great friends.
Round the Bay the Winding Way; March 22, 2009
Wow. Talk about making lemonade out of lemons. Half Moon Bay and Alice's was out of the question with the varying weather patterns so we put our heads together and came up with this overall great ride...
We had 7 bikes and 11 people. We met up in Livermore and left out 84 to Sunol where we broke off towards Castro Valley. Jumped on the 580 for a few miles and jumped right back off at Redwood road. Followed Redwood road into Moraga and then onto Orinda. Crossed over 24 onto San Pablo Dam road and weaved our way to the Warehouse Cafe in quaint little Port Costa. We enjoyed some food and drink while resting ourselves from a rather enjoyable ride. We also had a great opportunity to meet up with a couple of member's friends who joined us for the ride. A big welcome to Mike and Bill.
Easyriders V-Twin Bike Show; January 17 & 18, 2009
After each event I take a few moments and share highlights with all. This time I want to share a few exerpts from an email sent by Ruben Perez regarding the Easyriders show... "I couldn't pass up a ride this beautiful Sunday". "The morning was brisk but quickly it became perfect for that awesome ride through Highway 160 with a destination of Sacramento. I had not ridden for a while and I was not going to pass this up". "The show was awesome and I was not the only one that felt that it was a great day for a ride. There were hundreds and hundreds of motorcycles at the event". What more can I add to this to describe it. Ruben, keep it up and you will be updating the website!! I do want to thank Mike Smith, David Mauger and Ruben for sharing some pics from the event for those of us who were unable to attend.
"The Warehouse Cafe"; Sunday September 21, 2008
"The road less traveled" and so much more! A beautiful day that started in Alamo with coffee and good friends. On to the winding roads through the foothills of Alamo, Lafayette, Pleasant Hill, Martinez and then Pinole. From there, on to the lost city of Port Costa. The destination..."The Warehouse Cafe", truly a step back in time. Good food, great atmosphere, eclectic crowd. Great ride, perfect weather, wonderful company, beautiful scenery. What more can anyone ask for?
Walt Gray "Make a Wish" Ride; Sunday August 24, 2008
For those participating this year the ride was upgraded to include the great scenery of Highway 49. The group left the Sac State football parking lot and traveled east on Highway 50 and exited at Ponderosa Rd/Shingle Springs. They then headed south on Hwy 49 at Poor Reds for a nice bit of countryside and ended up at the Amador County Fairgrounds in Plymouth.
"Lucky Riders Group" 1st Annual Car & Motorcycle Show; Sunday August 10, 2008
This turned out to be a great event with beautiful cars, trucks and motorcycles as well as great music, wonderful raffle prizes and much, much more!! We would like to thank all that attended as well as all of the volunteers that made this event a huge success. We were able to raise over $600.00 for the "We Care Services for Children" of Concord; a private nonprofit agency devoted to serving children from birth to the age six and their families in Contra Costa County.
